The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially recognized Barrister Sadiq Dasin as the Interim Chairman of its Adamawa State chapter, following a contentious leadership selection process, and called on dissenting members to pursue reconciliation.
In a press statement posted on the party’s official X handle on Wednesday, National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi addressed reports of growing divisions within the Adamawa State leadership. The statement highlighted that the National Working Committee (NWC) had, during its October 8 meeting, approved the establishment of Interim Executive Committees to manage party affairs across states temporarily.
“After due investigations, the party considers the Saturday, October 25, process supervised by the National Vice Chairman for the North East, which produced Barrister Sadiq Dasin as the Interim Party Chairman in Adamawa State, to be in line with the NWC approval and guidelines,” the statement read.
The ADC encouraged members who have engaged in alternative arrangements to reconsider their positions and align with the recognized leadership. It also urged the new Interim Chairman to foster unity by extending “the hand of fellowship to all and address genuine grievances.”
Reaffirming its dedication to internal democracy, the party emphasized its “commitment to fairness and justice to all members, as well as its readiness to address genuine concerns.”
However, it warned that it would not tolerate “any act of indiscipline that is likely to jeopardise ongoing efforts to build a strong and truly democratic party.”
This development comes amid broader efforts by the ADC to stabilize its structures ahead of future electoral activities.
