National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the ruling party remains Nigeria’s most viable platform for stability, progress and long-term national development.
Speaking in Abuja on key national issues, Yilwatda said Nigeria, at a critical stage of democratic consolidation, cannot afford what he described as “politically disoriented alternatives,” insisting that the APC possesses the institutional strength, national spread and administrative capacity to manage the country’s complex realities.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman emphasized that the party is not merely positioning for future elections but is actively working to strengthen governance, deepen democratic culture and rebuild public trust.
“The All Progressives Congress is not an ad hoc coalition held together by convenience. It is a tested and enduring political machine, built on structure, experience and the capacity to respond to the real needs of Nigerians,” Yilwatda said.
He noted that while governance comes with challenges and difficult decisions, the APC remains committed to supporting reforms aimed at achieving long-term stability, productivity and prosperity. He added that the party fully understands the weight of governing a diverse nation like Nigeria and will continue to provide the political backbone required to sustain reforms and deliver democratic dividends.
Yilwatda also took a swipe at opposition parties, attributing their internal crises to lack of preparedness for leadership. He said persistent factional disputes, legal battles and ideological inconsistencies within opposition platforms are clear indicators of structural weakness.
“A party that cannot govern itself cannot govern Nigeria,” he stated, warning Nigerians against entrusting national leadership to parties struggling with internal cohesion and discipline.
The APC chairman, however, stressed that the ruling party welcomes healthy political competition and prefers to secure electoral victories through popular support rather than legal technicalities or procedural advantages.
“Victory is sweeter when it is earned. It is more legitimate when it is freely given by the people,” he added, noting that the APC’s growing confidence is driven by its expanding grassroots structures and renewed internal discipline.
On security, Yilwatda commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating the mass trial of over 500 terrorism-related suspects, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the rule of law and ensuring accountability.
He said the move reflects a comprehensive approach to tackling insecurity, combining military action with judicial processes and institutional reforms.
“What we are seeing is movement beyond arrests toward institutional accountability. It shows that the administration is addressing insecurity both on the battlefield and within the legal system,” he said.
Yilwatda added that sustainable security must be anchored on justice, deterrence and transparent prosecution, urging Nigerians to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and national stability.
Turning to party affairs in Osun State, the APC chairman commended the state chapter for its growing organizational strength but cautioned that electoral success would require discipline, coordination and a clearly defined command structure.
He emphasized the need for a data-driven, grassroots-focused campaign strategy, warning against internal conflicts, duplication of roles and ego-driven interference that could undermine the party’s chances.
“Every successful political operation requires one clear command structure. There must be no ambiguity in authority or responsibilities,” he said.
Yilwatda further described Osun as a strategic battleground for the APC, noting that political developments in the state would have far-reaching implications for the party’s strength in the South-West and serve as a critical rehearsal for the 2027 general elections.
He called on party leaders, stakeholders and supporters in the state to close ranks, prioritize unity and work collectively toward electoral victory.
Reaffirming the APC’s commitment to national development, Yilwatda said the party would continue to support policies that promote security, economic recovery, democratic legitimacy and institutional stability.
“Nigeria needs steadiness, structure, courage and capacity. The APC represents that responsibility. We are prepared and committed to doing the hard work required to move this country forward,” he said.
