The All Progressives Congress APC, has inaugurated the 7-man Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs in Rivers State.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had on Wednesday 22nd November, 2023, announced the dissolution of the Rivers State Executives of the Party at all levels.
At the Party’s Secretariat on Friday in Abuja, under the leadership of the national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the 7-man Caretaker Committee chaired by Chief Tony Okocha was inaugurated.
Dr. Ganduje, while addressing the newly sworn-in members of the Caretaker Committee, charged them to build a strong foundation for the party in Rivers State.
“We have confidence in you, and we expect you to involve yourselves because part of the reform system is to introduce electronic registration of our members and we request you to pay attention to it.
“We expect you to constitute various committees so that you can get more and more entrance into the party.
“Also we expect you to create an enabling environment so that congresses can be conducted for the emergence of leadership at ward, local, state, and even the senatorial levels.
“We expect you to put more life into the party. There’s no discrimination, you’re brothers in unity; regard yourselves as APC, APC and APC. You don’t belong to any group but the group of APC in Rivers State.
“We would like you to make history by building a strong foundation for our party so that during the next gubernatorial election we’ll have an APC government in Rivers State”, he said.
In his acceptance remark, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Chief Tony Okocha, assured that he and his members will not fail the party in the task before them.
“We want to assure that having assembled good heads, ardent and faithful party supporters, we’ll not fail you.
“We assure you that the days of faction in APC in River State are over, because all the various groups are represented here and having all of us will engender a new and vibrant APC in the state.
“We’ll engage with our friends and plead with them, and woo members of other political parties to see APC as a new pride in Rivers State”, he said.
