The spirit of unity and sportsmanship is set to take center stage in Edo South as preparations gear up for the maiden edition of the Benin Unity Cup, a major football tournament sponsored by Distinguished Senator Neda Imasuen.

The competition, designed to foster unity and community development through sports, will feature teams from all seven Local Government Areas in Edo South — Oredo, Orhionmwon, Ikpoba-Okha, Uhunmwonde, Egor, Ovia South-West, and Ovia North-East.

According to the organisers, the Benin Unity Cup goes beyond the excitement of football; it aims to strengthen the bond among communities across the senatorial district while discovering and nurturing young football talents hidden in the streets and rural areas of Benin Kingdom.

The official unveiling and press conference for the tournament are scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 24, 2025, at the Media Center, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Senator Neda Imasuen described the initiative as a platform “for the people and for the future,” noting that sports remain a powerful tool for promoting peace, youth empowerment, and social cohesion across the region.

Residents of Edo South are encouraged to attend and support their local teams as the tournament promises thrilling matches, community excitement, and opportunities for emerging football stars to shine.
