
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has said that the petition by some people to recall the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central Senatorial District has failed to meet the Constitutional requirement to do so.
In a terse post on its verified X account on Thursday afternoon, the electoral umpire stated that: “The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
Detailed statement shortly.”

Some individuals in the wake of the suspension of the female senator from Kogi State had embarked on an effort to recall her, gathering 250,000 signatures in the process.
