The Nigerian Presidency has categorically denied reports suggesting that President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to travel to the United States on Tuesday to meet with US Vice President J.D. Vance.
Mr Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, in a terse post on his verified X account (formerly Twitter) @TheTope_Ajayi, on Monday morning , dismissed the story originating from Sahara Reporters as false and criticized it for fueling misguided discussions.
The full post reads: “There is a Sahara Reporters story that President Tinubu is going to the US on Tuesday to see US Vice President J.D Vance. That story is not true. I can see that the fake news by Sahara has become the basis for some uninformed commentaries since yesterday. If President Tinubu is going to the White House, he won’t be going to see a Vice President.”
This clarification underscores the administration’s efforts to combat misinformation, particularly amid ongoing political and diplomatic engagements. No official details have been released regarding any upcoming international trips for President Tinubu, and the Presidency has not commented further on the matter.
