Indications have emerged that kidnapped Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, has finally regained his freedom.
Though details of his release remained sketchy as at the time of this report, a reliable source close to the chairman confided in GrandNews Online around 4 am on Tuesday morning that it was true.
“Just confirmed safe release of party chairman. We spoke.”
The State Police Command had on Monday refuted reports circulating on social media concerning the release of Aziegbemi by his kidnappers.
State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, who spoke to AIT on telephone, claimed that nothing of such had happened. He, however, promised to keep the media and the public abreast of developments as it pertains to the kidnap of the PDP chieftain.
He also expressed hope that the chairman would soon regain freedom from his kidnappers as police operatives were said to be working round the clock to ensure that he returned to his family safely.
Aziegbemi was kidnapped on March 16 on his way home from an engagement at the Government House in Benin City.
