A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Victoria Amu, has dumped the party and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Amu, in doing this, threw her weight behind the party’s candidate in the September 21 governorship election, Dr Asue Ighodalo.
She made this declaration during a press conference held at the PDP Secretariat in Benin City on Tuesday, emphasizing that she was happy to end her “18 years of political wilderness” in the APC.
Amu, a former Senior Special Assistant, SSA, has pledged to deliver the Owan Federal Constituency for the PDP candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming Edo gubernatorial elections.
Speaking at the press briefing, Amu emphasised her belief in the PDP’s vision and leadership, highlighting that the party’s policies align more closely with her aspirations for the people of Owan.
