The Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDOHIC) has unveiled a refreshed brand identity, reaffirming its commitment to delivering quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services to residents across the state.

The rebrand, officials said, represents more than a visual transformation, signalling the Commission’s growth, strengthened institutional responsibility and renewed resolve to ensure that no Edo resident is excluded from quality healthcare coverage.

The new logo was unveiled on Friday, December 19, in Benin City, by the Director-General of EDOHIC, Dr. (Mrs.) Augusta Ikpea-Enaholo, who described the development as a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

“Today marks an exciting chapter for our Health Insurance Scheme as we unveil our refreshed brand identity and logo. It reflects who we are, what we stand for, and the future we are building together,” Dr. Ikpea-Enaholo said.

According to her, the new identity captures the Commission’s vision of a future in which every Edo resident—regardless of age, location or income—has seamless access to quality healthcare without financial hardship.

EDOHIC is the regulatory body responsible for policy direction, regulation, quality assurance and the sustainability of health insurance programmes in Edo State, with the overarching goal of achieving UHC.

Dr. Ikpea-Enaholo noted that in recent months, the Commission has expanded enrolment, strengthened its systems and improved service delivery across the state, while acknowledging that more work remains.

She explained that the rebrand represents a renewed promise to serve residents more efficiently, respond more swiftly to their needs and operate with enhanced transparency.

“To our enrollees, we remain committed to providing quality healthcare without financial burden. To our healthcare providers, we appreciate your partnership and unwavering commitment to the well-being of our people,” she said.

The Director-General also commended the Edo State Government, led by Governor Monday Okpebholo, for its consistent support in advancing health sector reforms and promoting inclusive healthcare coverage.

“The Edo State Health Insurance Scheme is here for you. Your health, your future—our priority,” she emphasised.

The Commission added that the rebrand reinforces its assurance that quality healthcare coverage is accessible to all—across urban and rural communities, among indigenes and non-indigenes, formal and informal sector workers, and the state’s most vulnerable populations.

In an earlier press statement, Dr. Ikpea-Enaholo clarified the distinct roles of the Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDOHIC) and the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme (EDOHIS). She explained that while EDOHIC serves as the regulatory and supervisory body established by the state government, EDOHIS functions as the operational arm implementing health insurance programmes under EDOHIC’s oversight.

According to her, EDOHIC is responsible for policy formulation, health service providers accreditation, quality assurance and monitoring, while EDOHIS manages beneficiaries enrolment, benefit package administration, premium management and service delivery through accredited healthcare providers.

“In summary, EDOHIC regulates, while EDOHIS implements health insurance in Edo State,” she stated.
