As the Islamic world commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Jelili Kayode Amusan has encouraged the Muslim ummah – and humanity in general – to always emulate the Prophet’s exemplary character through acts of kindness, compassion, and devotion to Allah.

In a message in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Friday, Amusan, who represented Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency at the National Assembly from 2003 to 2011, urged Nigerians, particularly indigenes and residents of the state to foster community unity, which was inspired by the Prophet.

“Our state and indeed our country will become a place we will all admire if we use the opportunities provided by Eid-el-Maulud to reflect on the spiritual essence of the Prophet’s life, his teachings, and virtues,” the political leader said.

He used the occasion to pray for Nigerian leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and others across the country, that Almighty Allah will continue to guide them in taking decisions and executing policies that will serve the best interests of the people.

Amusan urged Muslims in Ogun State and elsewhere to use the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to pray for the peace, stability and development of the state and Nigeria.

He preached peace, saying that that is one of the virtues of the Prophet. He said: “It is only when there is peace in our communities that there can be development. In the build-up to another political cycle, therefore, it is important that we conduct our activities in manners that will promote good living and citizenship”.

He also enjoined the people of the state to imbibe the spirit of righteousness, for which the Prophet was reputed, in all of their conducts.

Amusan said that he is sure that the future looks bright for Nigeria and Ogun State, giving the qualities of leaders in both environments.
