The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three armed robbery suspects linked to “one-chance” operations and the gruesome killing of Barrister Princess Chigbo Nwamaka, a legal practitioner in Abuja.

In a statement on Sunday by SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were carried out between January 5 and 10, 2026, following directives from FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, to pursue all perpetrators of such crimes. Operatives from the Command’s Scorpion Squad, under ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, utilized reconstructive digital intelligence to track the victim’s mobile phone, leading to operations in Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Dan-Tata communities in the Kubwa area.

The suspects, two of who are identified as biological brothers, Saifullahi Yusuf, 22, and Ishau Yusuf, 24, both from Kaduna State and residing in Dan-Tata Community, Dei-Dei, along with Minka’ilu Jibril (also known as Dan-Hajia) from Kaduna State, are said to be part of an alleged syndicate known for intermittent “one-chance” robberies in the FCT, especially during festive seasons.

According to preliminary investigations, on January 5, 2026, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Barrister Chigbo boarded the suspects’ black Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway, mistaking it for a legitimate transport. Once inside, the tinted windows were raised, and the suspects threatened her with weapons, demanding ransom. When she resisted, they assaulted her and pushed her out of the moving vehicle, causing fatal injuries.

The suspects confessed to stealing her Android mobile phone, which they sold in Dei-Dei for ₦120,000. The proceeds were divided as follows: Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000, Saifullahi Yusuf got ₦15,000, and the remainder was shared between Ishau Yusuf and an accomplice named Musa, who remains at large.

During the arrests, police recovered several items believed to be used in their crimes, including five scissors, two sharp dagger knives, two additional knives, a long chain for restraining victims, and one plier.
Investigations are ongoing to capture Musa and dismantle any broader networks associated with the group.
CP Dantawaye commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, emphasizing the Command’s unwavering commitment to eliminating criminal elements from the FCT. He urged residents to stay vigilant, avoid boarding unregistered or suspicious vehicles, and report any unusual activities via the emergency lines: 08032003913 or 07057337653.

Further details will be released as the probe advances, according to SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer.
