The Federal Government on Monday announced that it has invited the controversial Islamic preacher, Ahmad Gumi over his comments on the activities of bandits particularly in the northern part of the country.
Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, has consistently advised the government to negotiate with bandits each time there was mass abduction of persons in the North.
He has also presented himself as a mediator and middleman to negotiate with the terrorists to enable them free their captives.
The Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed the invitation of Gumi, while briefing journalists at the State House, Abuja.
Idris said Gumi is not above the law, noting that the government has deemed it necessary to invite him for questioning.
