A para-athlete, Chaturong Suksuk, killed his bride, Kanchana Pachunthuek, her mother and sister on a wedding day in northeastern Thailand, on Saturday.
The report showed that stray bullets also hit two wedding guests and were rushed to the hospital where one of the victims gave up the ghost.
Suksuk, who was a former military officer, according to the report, abruptly left the event and came back with a gun, which he used to kill four people before killing himself.
The 29-year-old swimmer clinched two silver medals in the 2022 ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia and Cambodia.
Some reports claimed that Suksuk felt insecure because of the age gap between him and his 44-year-old bride, which led to his suicidal actions.
“They had an argument on private matters and Chaturong walked to his car and picked up a gun before shooting,” said Matichon Wongbaokul, a police officer from northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province.
He was a Thai army ranger and had lost his right leg while on patrol on the borders.
