Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in last year’s Edo State governorship election, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Jattu Community in Etsako West Local Government Area following a devastating overnight fire that razed the town’s market.

In a statement released on Friday by Team Asue Media Organization (TAMO) and signed by Erhabor Emokpae in Benin City, Ighodalo conveyed his deep sadness over the tragedy.

“I am deeply saddened to hear about the devastating inferno that razed your market. In moments like these, words often feel inadequate, but I want you to know that my heart goes out to each and every one of you. The pain of the loss of goods, belongings, and other prized materials is unimaginable, and I feel the uncertainty you are facing now,” Ighodalo said.

He added, “As you navigate this challenging time, please remember that you are not alone.
The strength and resilience of the Jattu Community have always shone brightly, and I have no doubt that you will come together to support one another in the days ahead. It is in these moments of crisis that the bonds of community are tested and strengthened. Lean on each other, share your stories, and find solace in the collective spirit that defines Jattu.”

Reflecting on past challenges, Ighodalo acknowledged the community’s resilience in the face of adversity, referencing the fierce windstorm six months ago that uprooted 100-year-old trees and claimed the lives of four traders. “The weight of grief is heavy, but your well-being is of utmost importance. I encourage you to prioritize your physical and emotional health during this recovery process.”

He concluded by urging the community to remain hopeful despite the losses. “As you the time to reflect on what has been lost, even more importantly, you must allow yourselves to hope for a brighter future. Together, we can rebuild and restore what has been damaged. I stand with you in solidarity, ready to support your efforts in any way I can. I pray that in the face of adversity, you may find strength in each other and the courage to rise again. You are in my thoughts and prayers, always,” Ighodalo stated.
