    Imo Transport Unions Commend Uzodimma’s Infrastructure Stride, Seek Loans For Members

    Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Imo State Council, have commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for infrastructural strides in the transport sector.

    Speaking during a solidarity visit on Friday, February 13, 2026, the State Chairman, Ikenga Jeff Eze, praised the administration for completing over 200 roads and improving connectivity across Imo State, noting that the development has reduced vehicle maintenance costs and travel time.

    The Union also applauded the Ministry of Transport for strengthening regulation and unity among transport associations.

    While expressing gratitude, the group however appealed for a revolving loan or grant scheme to empower members and boost the transport value chain. 

    They also requested land allocation for State Secretariat to reduce rental costs.

    The union pledged continued support for the governor’s administration.

    Receiving the  members on behalf of the Governor, the Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, commended them for the visit and assured that their request for a revolving loan would be conveyed to the Governor for consideration.

    He described the Governor as ā€œa listening leaderā€ who carefully considers all requests brought before him.

    He urged the Union to reciprocate the Governor’s support by remaining loyal and committed, noting that the administration had done much to assist them.

    Commending the current NURTW leadership for restoring peace within the Union, he said the era of internal crises was over and praised members for maintaining law and order.

    Anyaehie reaffirmed government’s continued support for the Union and encouraged members to sustain unity and lawful conduct.

    The Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo expressed joy at the visit, pointing out that the NURTW Imo State acknowledged the good works by the State Governor.

    He noted that the good road network in the State has made transportation business much easier and the relationship between the Union and the ministry most cordial.
