An unidentified man in Kano on Monday climbed a giant billboard in an apparent suicide bid.
Reports of the incident that has since gone viral on social media say a middle-aged man climbed the billboard located at Gadar Lado area in Zaria road in what many have described as an attempt to commit suicide.
The incident attracted several onlookers, leading to traffic gridlock along the road.
According to eyewitness, the man remained perched on the billboard for over an hour.
Confirming the incident in a post on his Facebook handle, the Kano State Police Command Spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealing that the man refused to come down and insisted on seeing some TikTok personalities in person.
“Right now the security forces are trying to rescue him. He said if celebrities whom he follows on Tiktok don’t go there, he will fall. May God protect us,” Kiyawa wrote.
The Police Spokesperson would later confirm the rescue of the man in a separate post.
“At last the young man was rescued and taken to the Police Hospital in Bompai,” he posted.
