…Condemns Coach’s Conduct, Enforces Discipline As Sanctions Force Closed-Door Fixtures

Bendel Insurance Football Club have issued an unreserved apology to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the Nigeria Referee Association (NRA) following the incident involving head coach Kennedy Boboye and match officials during their Matchday 32 clash against Plateau United.
The encounter, held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, was overshadowed by the coach’s altercation with referees—an action the club’s management has now openly condemned.
After reviewing the circumstances, the Benin-based side described Boboye’s conduct as “unfortunate and unacceptable,” distancing the club from the incident while reiterating its commitment to discipline and professionalism.
Management further disclosed that the coach and his technical crew have been cautioned against any recurrence, stressing that such behaviour runs contrary to the club’s values as a law-abiding organisation.
In a broader advisory, players, coaches and officials were urged to maintain composure during matches, noting that confrontations with referees do not influence decisions but often attract avoidable sanctions.
Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance will play their upcoming home fixtures behind closed doors in compliance with NPFL disciplinary measures. The directive takes effect from Matchday 34, beginning with their tie against Abia Warriors on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
The club has therefore appealed to supporters to stay away from the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium throughout the duration of the sanction, assuring that full compliance is underway.
Reaffirming their stance, Bendel Insurance emphasised their commitment to fair play and pledged to uphold standards that protect the integrity and image of the league.
