…. Says it’s embarrassing
The chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yusuf Dantalle, has questioned the entry requirements for political office holders in Nigeria, describing it as embarrassing.
Dantalle made the observation on Friday while appearing on Channel’s primetime program, Politics Today, anchored by Seun Okinbaloye.
Dantalle wondered why the bar is not raised higher when it comes to elected office holders. He argued that for private employment, we always seek higher qualifications and demonstrable know-how but when it comes to people who would formulate policies and implement them for the good of the people and country, we insist on the lowest qualification of just evidence of a attending a secondary school.
Dantalle wondered how a school certificate holder will be formulating policies and laws for professors and high caliber professionals.
