IPOB Ends Monday Sit-At-Home Order In South-East

    on

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared the complete and indefinite suspension of the Monday sit-at-home order throughout the South-East, starting from today, February 9, 2026.
According to the group, this instruction comes directly from their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who encouraged people to go back to their schools, jobs, and businesses without any apprehension.
IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, emphasized that any efforts to impose the sit-at-home starting this Monday would be seen as defiance against Kanu’s orders and the broader Biafran movement.
“Every market, school, office, transportation system, and business operation should operate at full capacity and as usual beginning tomorrow. The time for Monday sit-at-home has come to an end,” the statement from IPOB read.
The organization cautioned the public about potential deceptive tactics or threats from adversaries aimed at sabotaging the new directive.
They advised everyone in the area to stay composed, alert, and respectful of the law while daily life returns to normal.
IPOB clarified that governors in the states do not have the power to intimidate or compel the closure of shops belonging to traders who choose to operate on their own terms.
Furthermore, the group insisted that any plans for market upgrades or moves must include agreement from all involved parties and the arrangement of interim trading spots prior to starting construction.
IPOB encouraged South-East inhabitants to get back to their regular routines and make sure kids head back to classes.
This move, they noted, demonstrates their dedication to fostering unity, liberty, respect, and fairness.
