The Presidency has debunked a viral video alleging that a chef attached to the Presidential Villa was arrested over an alleged plot to poison President Bola Tinubu.

The video, which has since been trending on social media, claimed that security operatives arrested the alleged culprit, a member of the presidential kitchen staff following intelligence reports of suspicious activities linked to food preparation within restricted areas of the Villa.

However, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked the claims.

Onanuga, in a terse statement on his verified X handle @aonanuga1956 on Sunday, March 1, 2026, described the video as “fake news,” stressing that the story was entirely fabricated and should be disregarded.

“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video,” the presidential spokesman wrote.

This latest allegation is coming few months after some military personnel were arrested for planning to violently overthrow the Tinubu administration via a coup plot.
