In a swift response to a public alert, the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has rescued a mentally unstable woman who attempted to lodge a complaint against the sun at a local police station.
The incident unfolded when the woman, described as well-dressed, hailed an Uber ride from the upscale Lekki area to the Panti Police Station. Upon arrival, she reportedly tried to file a formal complaint against the sun, prompting concern from authorities and bystanders. The ministry’s Rescue Team was notified via a distress report received through Instagram and acted promptly to intervene.
The woman was safely transported to one of Lagos State’s government-owned rehabilitation centers, where she is now undergoing comprehensive medical and psychological treatment to support her recovery.
Officials emphasized the importance of timely intervention in such cases to prevent further harm.

Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, praised the Rescue Team for their efficient and professional handling of the situation. “Their quick response exemplifies the dedication of our staff to protecting vulnerable individuals in our community,” he stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Permanent Secretary Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu called on residents to remain vigilant and report any potential life-threatening situations.
Reinforcing the ministry’s “See Something, Say Something” initiative, she urged the public to contact authorities immediately upon witnessing unusual or dangerous behavior. “Your alertness can save lives,”
Oke-Osanyintolu added, providing a dedicated hotline for reports: 0913 205 5075.
The ministry continues to encourage community involvement in safeguarding at-risk individuals, promoting a collaborative approach to public welfare in Nigeria’s bustling economic hub.
