The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has formed a specialized committee to verify and digitize completed projects across the region, paving the way for electronic payments in line with federal directives.
This was made known in a statement on Sunday, January 11, 2026, by NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs Seledi Thompson-Wakama. He said the move follows a resolution from the commission’s 7th Governing Board during its 9th meeting on December 8, 2025. The board approved the creation of the Project Verification and Payment Committee to ensure all infrastructure, electrification, desilting, environmental, and water projects are captured in the Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ digitized platform.
The initiative stems from a federal government mandate requiring all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to transition to paperless operations by December 31, 2025. NDDC management, under the leadership of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, deemed it essential to conduct a thorough verification of projects to integrate them into an electronic database for efficient e-payments.
The committee’s scope includes a comprehensive review of all completed projects in the Niger Delta from the commission’s inception up to January 2023. This verification process aims to catalog details accurately, enabling seamless digital transactions and enhancing transparency in project funding.
Heading the committee is Alabo Boma Iyaye, Executive Director of Finance and Administration, serving as chairman. Other members include Sir Victor Antai, Executive Director of Projects; Mr. Victor Arenyeka, Director of Legal Services, who will act as secretary; Gbenga Omowanle, Director of Project Monitoring and Supervision; Mrs. Kunemofa Asu, Director of Finance and Accounts; and Mr. Lucky Ogbuji, Director of Internal Audit.
This step underscores the NDDC’s commitment to modernizing its operations, aligning with national efforts to promote digital governance and reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
