The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully recovered two high-end vehicles stolen from the Netherlands and shipped to Nigeria. Force spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin announced on Monday that operatives retrieved the vehicles in Lagos and Akwa Ibom states after they were traced from Amsterdam and Midden-Nederland. The cars, which arrived in Apapa, Lagos, in late 2023 via the port of Antwerp, Belgium, were identified through a coordinated investigation.

Following their recovery, INTERPOL NCB Abuja initiated civil forfeiture proceedings at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The court granted a final forfeiture order, allowing the vehicles to be returned to the Netherlands through the vehicles’ insurance company. On October 20, 2025, the NPF INTERPOL team formally handed over the vehicles to representatives of the insurance company and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, concluding the cross-border recovery effort.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the INTERPOL NCB Abuja team for their professionalism and collaboration with international partners, particularly INTERPOL NCB The Hague, in ensuring the successful repatriation of the stolen vehicles.
