    Champions Edo Queens Football Club of Benin will on Wednesday host Ekiti Queens FC at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, as the first phase of the 2024/25 season of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) climaxes.

    The match which kicks off at 4pm is described by football pundits as a revenge mission.

    Recalled that the new comers to the Nigeria Women Football League circle, Ekiti Queens, pipped Edo Queens 1-0 in last seasons’ encounter in Ado -Ekiti. The defeat was a surprise to Edo Queens. Today’s game will be different as the Ancient City ladies are ready for a pay back.

    For Edo Queens, there will be no hiding place for the Ado -Ekiti Queens in the head to head tie that will wrap up the first stanza of the NWFL premiership.

    The Edo Queens will be aiming to record five successive wins when they lock horns with Ekiti Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium today.

    The defending Champions are mentally, emotionally and physically ready to display their professional expertise against Ekiti Queens as they fight to top Group A, aiming at displacing arch rivals Remo Starts Ladies of Ikenne.

    Edo Queens who occupy 2nd spot in Group A with 14 points on the league table, will enter the contest off the back of a 2-0 victory over Confluence Queens last Wednesday.

    With a record of four wins, two draws and no loss, Edo Queens are ready to do exploit to prove their supremacy over Ekiti Queens.

    Edo Queens teeming supporters expect an extraordinary performance from the coach Moses Aduku tutored girls.

    Meanwhile, the Enabulele-led Executive Board members of Edo State Sports Commission have thrown their weight behind Edo Queens.

    “I want to inform you all that we are solidly behind you. I don’t expect you to underrate your opponents in Wednesday’s encounter, because no team is a push over in football.

    “What expect nothing but total victory from you.

    “You all know that a win in Wednesday’s cracker will do us a lot of good. So go out there and beat the Ado- Ekiti girls,” Enabulele said.
