Former Deputy President of the Senate and APC’s 2023 Delta State governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has dismissed claims by US-based newspaper, TheWill, that he plans to leave the party. He described the report as baseless and a failed attempt to sow division, orchestrated by a journalist for hire.

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege stated: “The January 12, 2025 publication of TheWill alleged that I am planning to abandon the APC and join a phantom political party being floated by Mallam Nasir el-Rufai. This story is not only false but absurd.

“Having led the APC to its best performance in Delta State during the 2023 general elections, where we secured two of three senatorial seats, and nearly won the governorship election, this allegation is baseless and malicious.”

Omo-Agege criticized The Will and its publisher, Austyn Ogannah, for a history of unverified reporting, citing an August 2024 false story about the supposed death of Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, who was later rescued alive. He further accused Ogannah of being a tool for political forces attempting to disrupt his leadership in Delta APC and undermine the party’s success.

Omo-Agege reaffirmed his commitment to leading the APC to victory in 2027, saying: “As the leader of APC in Delta State, I remain dedicated to rescuing the state from failed administrations and steering it towards prosperity. Together, we will secure Delta’s future as a leading oil-producing state.”

Omo-Agege urged party members to dismiss the report and remain steadfast in their loyalty, commending President Tinubu’s reforms, which he said are already yielding results for Nigerians.

“President Tinubu’s agenda is bringing renewed hope and progress. Reactionary forces will not distract us from this path,” he added.
