Ondo State Governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has established a commanding lead in 15 local government areas whose results have been declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Residents of the state trooped out on Saturday to elect a new governor in one of the off circle guber elections in the country.
The State Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, formally opened the state collation exercise around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday.
In the results of the 15 local government areas declared so far, Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious in all, including Idanre Local Government, the home of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship running mate, Mr. Festus Akingbaso.
Results from the remaining three local government areas of the state are being expected today.
