    The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly debunked viral videos and social media claims suggesting that the party has already selected a candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, describing such reports as “entirely untrue” and urging the public to disregard them.

    In an official statement released on Wednesday, signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, the party reaffirmed its commitment to a fair and democratic selection process.

    “The ADC wishes to address circulating videos and social media posts falsely suggesting that the party has already ‘picked’ a candidate for the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election,” the statement read.

    “These claims are entirely untrue and should be disregarded by the public and party faithful.”

    Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC has already made public its timetable for the governorship primaries in Osun State, encouraging all interested aspirants to participate. “The ADC has officially released and widely publicised its timetable for the conduct of governorship primaries in Osun State,” he stated.

    “All aspirants are hereby encouraged to follow the stipulated guidelines and uphold the spirit of healthy internal competition.”
    The statement further highlighted the party’s dedication to internal democracy, insisting that no favoritism or endorsements have taken place.

    “For emphasis, the ADC remains firmly committed to free, fair, credible, and transparent internal democratic processes,” Abdullahi noted.

    “No candidate has been endorsed or anointed by the party leadership. The choice of our flagbearer will be determined solely through due process as enshrined in the party’s constitution.”

    In a call to action, the ADC advised its members, supporters, and the broader public to seek information only from verified sources. “The ADC urges members, supporters, and the general public to rely on official party communications and disregard misinformation designed to mislead or cause confusion,” the statement concluded.

    The announcement was also endorsed by Honourable Muhammed MJG GKAF, described as the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC National Media Frontiers, underscoring the party’s unified stance’s against the spread of false narratives ahead of the 2026 elections.
