
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, emerged as the candidate of the Accord Party for the August 8, 2026, governorship election in the state.
Adeleke, the sole aspirant of the Accord Party, polled 145 votes out of 150 votes cast during the party’s primary election monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
Announcing the results, the chairperson of the electoral committee, Mariam Saleh, said five votes were invalid.
Saleh, who was represented by the secretary of the committee, Abdulazeez Salaudeen, said that the primary election was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines.
She said: “I hereby declare Governor Ademola Adeleke as the candidate of the Accord Party for the August 8, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.
“Our candidate is a man of honour, integrity, and strength to win the governorship election.
“The Accord Party remains a stronghold, and we will continue to expand in the political space of the country.
“We must all support the party to emerge victorious in the governorship election.”
The national chairman of the party, Maxwell Ngbudem, presented the party’s certificate of return to Adeleke as the standard bearer.
In his acceptance speech, Adeleke thanked the party and the electoral committee for conducting a peaceful primary election.
The governor urged all the party’s supporters and the electorate in Osun State to cast their votes for the Accord Party in the gubernatorial election.
