The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the formation of caretaker committees to oversee its operations in Enugu, Delta, and Rivers states, amid ongoing efforts to stabilize party structures at the state level. The move, approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), was detailed in a public notice posted on the PDP’s official Facebook page on Friday, December 12, 2025.
According to the notice, the committees were constituted pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended). Their primary mandate is to manage the party’s affairs in their respective states for a period not exceeding 90 days, or until new executive committees are elected, as outlined in Section 21(2)(a-b) of the party’s constitution.
Theophilus Dakas Shan, the National Organizing Secretary, emphasized that the committees must adhere strictly to the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Act of 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended) while executing their duties.
