Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (rtd), has urged political actors in the state to end political bitterness and work together for the development of the state.

He made the appeal yesterday during the Inter-Denominational Church Thanksgiving Service at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, organised as part of official events to mark the return of Governor Sim Fubara back to power.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had in March declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the state House of Assembly for six months.

The President in a nationwide broadcast also announced Ibas as the sole administrator for the state, explaining that his decision was to nip in the bud, the political crisis in the state following the feud between Fubara and his predecessor who is the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Ibas said, “Political actors must sheath their swords, because no political victory or personal gain is worth the blood of any Rivers citizen. The progress and prosperity of Rivers State must be placed above personal or partisan interest.”
