President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday hosted Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in honour of their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In recognition of their achievement, President Tinubu conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players and 11 members of the technical crew.

Each awardee is also to receive a three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate, Abuja, and a cash reward of the naira equivalent of $100,000 for players and $50,000 for technical officials.

Commending the team’s resilience and unity, especially in their comeback 3–2 win against host nation Morocco in the final, Tinubu described their victory as a symbol of national pride.

“You have not only brought glory to our country but also inspired millions with your dedication, discipline, and team spirit,” he said.

The reception was attended by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior officials.

The Falcons’ dramatic win in Rabat secured Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Miracle Usani of Edo Queens emerged as the youngest player in the victorious Super Falcons squad, marking a major breakthrough for both the player and her home state.

    Miracle Usani, Edo’s Rising Star,
Born in 2007, featured prominently in the final, displaying impressive maturity and defensive awareness on Africa’s biggest stage.

Her call-up followed a string of standout performances in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), earning her a place in the national team and national recognition.

Usani’s rapid ascent from domestic football to international success highlights the growing effectiveness of Edo State’s grassroots sports development and stands as a source of inspiration for young athletes across the country.

She has since been celebrated by the Edo State government and sporting community as a symbol of excellence and potential in Nigerian women’s football.
