Says Ghana experience can’t happen in Nigeria

    BY BEN NWACHUKWU, ABUJA

The presidency on Wednesday said President Bola Tinubu is eminently qualified for a second term to contest in the 2027 general elections but he is not distracted with or has allowed himself to be sucked in by such talks. This is even as he is barely one and a half years in his first term.

Speaking to the media at the national headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ) in Abuja, Presidential Aide, Daniel Bwala, said though the President is much concerned about governance for now, he is eminently and legally qualified to contest in the 2027 general election and will, God willing, win the election.

“Well for now Mr. President is focused on governance, delivering on the mandate and the promises to Nigerian people and he has refused to be distracted by political talk ahead of 2027.

“He is very focus on issues affecting the Nigerian people, to make sure that people come out of hunger, to make sure that agriculture brings about the expected revolution, to make sure that our people are able to deal with their everyday problem.

“So the time for politicking is not yet and when that time comes we are going to be ready for everyone.

“The President’s agenda, which is working well, is what will naturally endear Nigerians to vote him for the second term and Mr. President is more than eminently qualified constitutionally to contest for the second term in office, and God willing, if God gives Mr. President life and health, we do hope that Mr. President will run his course as provided by the constitution.”

Speaking on the possibility of the ruling party losing in the 2027 general election as seen recently in Ghana, Bwala who is Special Adviser on Public Communication and Media to the President also said:
“Given comparative analysis, that is not to say, I am blaming the government of Ghana, but there are divergent applications of government policy.

“If you have been following the government in Ghana you would have seen that over the last one year, if you follow the indices you will find out that it is not the same thing that is happening in the two countries in what Mr. President is doing in redirecting the economy in the right path. Mr President is very confident.

“The idea of the ruling party losing election will not happen because Nigerian people are seeing what the administration is doing and Nigerian people only care about the things they are confronted with every day. They don’t actually care about whether you are white or black as long as what matters to them on their dinning table are dealt with Nigerian people will always stay with you and that’s what Mr President is doing. And that is why Mr President is receiving commendation from every part of the country.”

Recall that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume had advised the North to forget contesting in the 2027 general election and wait for 2031to allow President Tinubu complete his constitutional two terms.

His advice attracted condemnation from former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar and the Arewa Consultative Forum.
