Barely 24 hours after the passage of the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026, President Bola Tinubu has signed it into law.
The grant of presidential assent was fast and historic in its vast flourish.
The National Assembly had on Tuesday harmonised the bill before sending it to President Tinubu for his signature.
The process had been dramatic as it was controversial. But the clean copy emerged from the bedlam after the dust had settled.
Recall that many civil society organisations and well-meaning Nigerians had kicked against the newly passed bill, insisting that it did not reflect the wishes of the people.
