Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has urged 26 newly promoted police officers deployed to Government House, Owerri, to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and serve as worthy examples to others in the Force.
The charge was delivered during a decoration ceremony held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Council Chambers, Government House Owerri where the Governor was represented by the Chief of Staff, Barrister Nnamdi Anyaehie.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Barr. Anyaehie described the promotion as both a recognition of exceptional service and a call to higher responsibility. He reminded the officers that their new ranks demand greater discipline, dedication, and commitment to duty.
He recalled the period between 2020 and 2023 when Imo State grappled with serious security challenges, commending the resilience of the state government and the gallantry of security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, for restoring peace and stability across the state.
The Chief of Staff also highlighted the Governor’s initiative of inaugurating over 7,000 vigilantes across communities in Imo State to support formal security agencies, describing it as a demonstration of effective collaboration and synergy in safeguarding lives and property.
He further praised the Commissioner of Police for promoting cooperation among the police, military, and other security outfits, urging sustained collaboration to consolidate the prevailing peace in the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Bosso Garba Audu, admonished the newly promoted officers to discharge their duties with utmost responsibility and discipline, stressing that discipline remains the hallmark of the police profession.
According to him, the officers were selected for promotion based on their proven record of dedication and service, and are expected to remain focused on securing Government House and Imo State at large.
CP Audu assured residents that security would be further strengthened within and around Government House and across the state, adding, “Security is going to be more beefed up. “We will do our very best to ensure that Imolites sleep with their eyes closed.”
He commended Governor Uzodimma for his consistent support to the police and other security agencies, pledging continued partnership to maintain peace and security in the state.
Earlier, the Chief Principal Security Officer to the Governor, Adamu Shaba, congratulated the officers, describing their promotion as a reward for hard work, diligence, and loyalty. He urged them to remain loyal, dedicated, and upright, and to lead by example in their new responsibilities.
He also lauded Governor Uzodimma for his leadership and commitment to the welfare and professional development of officers serving under his administration.
Among the officers decorated with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) were Inspectors Nwali Desmond, Ambutsa Joseph, Sunday Umoru, Obeten Etim, Okechukwu Tolo, Emengaha Timothy, and 20 others.
The ceremony was attended by the Principal Secretary to the Governor, members of the expanded Executive Council, and senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
