Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West in the Nigerian Senate, has resigned from the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In a letter dated August 20, 2025, addressed to the SDP ward chairman in Tudun Kofa, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Wadada cited persistent internal crises and litigations within the party as his reasons for leaving. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities and relationships built during his time with the SDP but stated that the ongoing disputes and divisions necessitated his exit.

There are indications that Wadada may be planning to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), with some sources suggesting he is eyeing the Nasarawa State governorship position in 2027. His resignation follows a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on August 13, 2025, where he praised Tinubu’s administration and hinted at a potential return to the APC, a party he was previously affiliated with before joining the SDP in 2022.
