In a stirring announcement, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce revealed his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his unwavering belief in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria. In a post on X ( formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Bruce highlighted his long-standing relationship with Tinubu, dating back to 1998, and praised the president’s focus on results over applause.
Bruce described Tinubu as a leader who understands finance and views the economy as a dynamic system requiring discipline and deregulation. He defended the administration’s ongoing reforms, acknowledging their immediate challenges but emphasizing their necessity for long-term prosperity.
“The painful reforms we face today are the very foundation of tomorrow’s prosperity,” Bruce stated, pointing to Nigeria’s shift toward a free-market economy that rewards innovation and hard work.
The senator commended Tinubu’s achievements, including a redefined national security framework under the current National Security Adviser, which he said is quietly dismantling insecurity. He also lauded the Central Bank’s professional leadership for stabilizing the economy and strengthening the naira.
Bruce highlighted improvements in foreign policy, the end of fuel scarcity through deregulation, and a surge in infrastructure projects, including roads, ports, airports, and housing schemes, which he described as “arteries” of growth and opportunity.
Acknowledging the difficulties many Nigerians face, Bruce urged patience, noting that reform is inherently challenging but essential for national rebirth. He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, predicting “phenomenal growth” over the president’s full eight-year term.
“I am joining the APC, not for politics, but for progress,” Bruce declared, aligning himself with Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria.
