Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has paid glowing tribute to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of his passing.
In a terse post on his verified X handle @bukolasaraki on Monday morning, Saraki who was also former two terms Governor of Kwara State, poured encomium on the late President, describing him as the friend who helped him to understand the meaning of service.
His full post reads:
“Fifteen years on, Nigeria still mourns one of its finest — and I still remember a friend whose quiet wisdom helped shape my understanding of service.
President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua led with conviction, not commotion. He listened more than he spoke — and when he did speak, it was with purpose, not politics.
His legacy reminds us that leadership is not about power, but about duty, humility, and justice.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to grant him a place among the righteous in Al Jannah Firdaus. Ameen.”
Yar’Adua died following a protracted illness on May 5, 2010. He had taken over the leadership of the country from President Olusegun Obasanjo on May 29, 2007. He could not however complete his four year tenure because of the illness which kept him in and out of hospital until he breathed his last.
