Reports coming in from Akure, the Ondo State capital indicate that after a protracted face-off between the executive and legislative arms of Government in Ondo, peace and understanding may have returned as the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, presided over a State Executive Council meeting on Thursday.
The state exco meeting has been put in abeyance following months of political wrangling between the deputy governor and loyalists of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The crisis was occasioned by the absence of the governor, who has been out of the state for months due to ill health.
Last Friday, President Bola Tinubu brokered peace between the warring factions at a meeting he held with them in Abuja.
Among other things, it was agreed that the deputy governor should continue to perform his duties as deputy governor.
The fact that the exco has now finally held is a strong indication that things may be looking up for the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state which has recently been threatened by internal bickering.
