Traders in all markets in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi state have declared their support for the re-election of President Bila Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for second tenure in office.
The traders and market leaders across Ebonyi State have staged a massive solidarity rally in support of their second-term re-election bids citing their administrations’ developmental strides.
The rally which held in Abakaliki township stadium Ebonyi State capital on Tuesday was jointly organized by the Ebonyi State Ministry of Market Development and Parks, Ebonyi State Traders and Market Associations, and the Ebonyi State Market Development Board.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of MATAN Ebonyi State, Okpoto Godwin, said traders in the state have witnessed significant improvements in market infrastructure, security, and economic opportunities under the current administrations.
“We are here today to unanimously pass a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our dear Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for their people-oriented policies and visible achievements,” Godwin stated. From improved road networks to better market facilities and enhanced security, our businesses are thriving more than ever before.”
Also speaking, the President of Ebonyi State Market Women Association, Mrs. Patience Nwali, commended both leaders for prioritizing the welfare of traders and women in the state.
“We, the market women of Ebonyi State, are solidly behind these leaders. Their commitment to grassroots development, empowerment programmes, and support for small-scale businesses is commendable. We therefore pass a vote of confidence on them and endorse their second-term aspirations”, she said.
Mrs. Nwali emphasized that the unity and turnout at the convention reflected the satisfaction of traders with the current leadership, urging other stakeholders to sustain their support.
The event attracted a large crowd of traders, artisans, and stakeholders from various markets across the state, many of whom carried placards expressing support and appreciation for the federal and state governments.
Officials of the Ministry of Market Development and Parks noted that the convention was not only a show of solidarity but also an avenue to reaffirm the commitment of market stakeholders to policies aimed at boosting commerce and economic growth in Ebonyi State.
The highlight of the event was the unanimous endorsement and vote of confidence passed on both leaders, signaling strong grassroots backing ahead of future electoral processes.
