The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ugbeze Community, Uhunwonde LGA, Edo State, on Monday, April 1, received scores of defectors from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) into its fold.

The defectors were led by Mr. Omoruyi Evbuomwan and were received by Dcn Festus Osaigbovo, Dr. Nosa Owen, Mr. Lucky Oseye and other leaders of the party in the community.

In another instance, Dcn Festus Osagie Osaigbovo received a leader of the APC in Uhunwonde LGA, Mr. John Ojo, aka Baddess, into the umbrella family in his palatial home in Oza Community.

Mr Baddess, who is a leader in Iguoke community, noted that he joined the party to support the election of Dr Asue Ighodalo and Barr Osarodion Ogie, fondly referred to as Ai O2, to become the governor and deputy of Edo State respectively, because he saw in them the capacity to lead Edo to greater heights.

Dcn Osaigbovo welcomed the new members into the party and encouraged them to remain resolute in their decision to work for the victory of the party in the forthcoming elections.

Osaigbovo noted that it was only the PDP guber ticket that had “what it takes to lead the state to prosperity.”

He stated that: “The popularity and the wealth of experience of Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie Esq are huge assets that will herald the victory of the party in the coming election.”

The defectors narrated how they had endured many years in the darkness of APC, and had decided to join forces with the PDP in order to ensure the victory of the party and its candidates in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Osaigbovo said that the reception of the former APC members into the PDP family served as a pointer to the credibility and acceptability of the PDP candidates, Barr. Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie.

According to him, “Both candidates have a perfect blend of corporate and public service experience, which will fast-track the development of the state.”
