The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested popular cross-dresser, Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye.
Bobrisky’s offence, according to the EFCC, is mutilation of the Naira currency.
Bobrisky was arrested on Wednesday at Pinnock Estate in Lagos.
The spokesman of the anti-graft commission, Mr. Dele Oyewale, reportedly told newsmen that “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others.
“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”
The cross-dresser has always been involved in one controversy or the other with the latest being the declaration that he/she emerged as the best dressed female at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, Beast of Two Worlds.
The event which was held at Circle Mall, Lekki, was condemned by many who saw it as a promotion of obscenity.
Nigeria’s law is against transgender and LGBTQ+ rights.
