A significant boost to infrastructure development in Abia State is on the horizon as Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, prepares to officially commence the construction of the long-awaited Ntigha-Nbawsi-Umuala road.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Pastor Caleb Ajagba, PhD, Chief of Staff to the Governor.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Monday, November 25th, 2024, at 12:00 noon, at the Nbawsi Motor Park.
This crucial project, years in the planning stages, promises to significantly improve connectivity and accessibility for residents of Ntigha, Nbawsi, Umuala, and surrounding communities.
Pastor Ajagba, in a press statement released earlier today, extended a warm invitation to the public to attend the flag-off ceremony.
“His Excellency, Governor Otti, is deeply committed to improving the lives of all Abians,” stated Pastor Ajagba.
“This road project is a testament to that commitment. It represents a substantial investment in our infrastructure and will have a transformative impact on the economic and social well-being of these communities.”
The Ntigha-Nbawsi-Umuala road has been a long-standing need for the area. Residents have for years endured challenging travel conditions, impacting access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets.
The dilapidated state of the existing road has also hampered economic activities, hindering agricultural and commercial progress.
The construction project is expected to not only improve road conditions but also stimulate economic growth in the region.
Improved accessibility will facilitate easier transportation of goods and services, fostering trade and creating new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs.
The project is also anticipated to create numerous employment opportunities for local residents during the construction phase.
Governor Otti’s administration has prioritised infrastructure development as a key component of its agenda for transforming Abia State.
This road project underscores the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the people and building a more connected and prosperous Abia.
The event promises to be a significant milestone for the state, marking a new chapter in the development of its rural communities.
The public is urged to spread the word and attend the flag-off ceremony to show their support for this vital initiative.
Further details regarding the project’s scope, timelines, and contractors are expected to be released closer to the flag-off date.
Ajagba said the Abia State Government will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
