The Director-General of the Grass-Root Support Group, BAT’s 4/4 Renewed Hope Agenda, Engr. Dan Ohiomoba has called on Nigerians not to vilify President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi for showing his heartfelt sympathy with the citizens over the hard biting economic situation in the country.

Seyi Tinubu recently added his voice to the growing array of Nigerians of different political and tribal divides calling for caution and sober reflection on the prevailing cloudy economic climate. While expressing optimism in a post he shared on his Instagram handle last Monday, (the same expression of hope and positivity earlier put out by his Father), Seyi re-echoed the ancient words of wisdom that after the windstorm comes rain and all will be calm once again. But he was roundly attacked by netizens.

Reacting to the development at the weekend, Engr, Ohiomoba said what the son of the President said was a fact . He quoted him to have said “There is no joy in seeing the people of this nation shoulder burdens that should have been shed years ago. I wish today’s difficulties did not exist. But we must endure if we are to reach the good side of our future.”

He further stated that the President’s recent decisions ought to have been made years ago.

Ohiomoba added that “As expected, no sooner did Mr. Seyi Tinubu drop this passionate appeal to Nigerians than social media hawks, sharks and bullies went to work, invaded the comment section with all manner of bizarre and infantile posts. Most of those who commented left the substance of his appeal and went personal and guttural, while a lot more brought out their tar brush with the intent to obliterate his image with a black tar.

“Some others concentrated their negative energies on mundane issues that had no bearing with issue in discourse, like Seyi’s wrist Watch. As a Grass-Root Support Group, BAT’s 4/4 Renewed Hope Agenda, we will continue to resist and emphatically refuse to be drawn into a mud fight or join issues with faceless and perhaps sponsored social media irritants trolling Mr. Seyi Tinubu.

“However, we note and identify with the profound thought trail of the erudite University don, Dr. Ikenna Ukpabi on this subject, who opined that the world economy faces the risk of a prolonged period of subpar growth. Medium-term prospects for global growth are clouded by scarring from recent past pandemic, the ever-worsening impact of climate change, and structural macroeconomic challenges, such as weak investment and mounting debt vulnerabilities not just in Nigeria alone.

“While upward price pressures are expected to slowly ease, inflation in many countries will remain well above the comfort zone of Central Banks. Amid local supply disruptions, high import costs and market imperfections, food inflation is still high in most developing countries inclusive of Nigeria, disproportionately affecting women, children and the poor and exacerbating food insecurity.

“Indeed, the D.G of the group Dan Ohiomoba and all the members of the BAT’s 4/4 Renewed Hope Agenda share in the hope, faith and pedigree-backed optimism that the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire Leadership of the present administration are working assiduously hard to steer the national economy back to the path of sustainable growth and prosperity”.

He maintained that things could appear rough and turbulent for now, but “we are confident and comfortable with the skills, courage and hands-on experience of the Captain of our ship, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to steer the ship out of the present turbulence, on to safety. We and indeed all Nigerians owe the President our support, Prayers, encouragement and less distraction.”
