Isaac Ighovojah Foundation Donates Educational Materials to Schools in Ughelli North

.…Charges Pupils to Take Their Studies Seriously, Says Education Is Bedrock of Human and Societal Development

Isaac Ighovojah Foundation, a non-governmental organization established to honour the memory and sustain the legacy of late Chief Isaac Ighovojah, has commenced the distribution of educational materials to schools across Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The initiative which is part of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting education, alleviating poverty and contributing meaningfully to the development of communities through interventions.

The exercise commenced with visits to Ekure Primary School, Imodje-Orogun; Efe Primary School, Orogun; and Oharisi Primary School, Ughelli, where reading and writing materials were presented to pupils, alongside interactions with teachers and the schools management.

Speaking during the exercise, Chief David Ighovojah, First Board Member of the Governing Council, Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, and younger sibling of late Chief Isaac Ighovojah, commended the teachers and school authorities for their dedication to nurturing the younger generation.

Chief David Ighovojah charged the pupils to take their studies serious, stressing that education remains the bedrock of human development, empowerment and societal progress.

He explained that the Foundation was established by the family to preserve and build on the humanitarian values of their late patriarch, Late Chief Isaac Ighovojah, ensuring that his contributions to society continue to impact lives.

According to him, the late Chief Isaac Ighovojah was a devoted family man, philanthropist, businessman, humanitarian and politician whose generosity and concern for the welfare of others extended beyond his immediate family.

“We are determined to consolidate those legacies and ensure that his passion for humanity, education and community development continues to find expression through this Foundation,” he said.

He further assured the people that the educational outreach would not be a one-off exercise, but would be sustained and developed into an annual programme as part of the Foundation’s long-term commitment to education and youth development.

Also speaking, the Registrar, Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, Mr. Ufuoma Ighovojah, son of the late Chief Isaac Ighovojah, said the Foundation was established not merely to immortalise his father’s name but to translate his values of service, compassion and philanthropy into practical interventions.

Ufuoma Ighovojah urged the pupils to remain focused on their education, shun social vices and negative peer influence, and acquire the knowledge, skills and character needed to make meaningful contributions to their immediate community and society at large.

He appreciated the school authorities and teachers for their cooperation, while reaffirming the family’s commitment to using the Foundation to promote education, humanitarian support and youth development.

In the respond, the teachers and school authorities appreciated the Foundation for the timely donation, while the pupils expressed gratitude and promised to make good use of the materials, take their studies seriously, maintain good conduct and shun social vices.
