NDC Disowns Fake Candidates List Circulating On Social Media

on

The National Democratic Coalition (NDC) has distanced itself from purported lists of candidates currently circulating on social media, describing them as fake and unauthorized.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, the NDC urged the general public, particularly party members in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states, to disregard the lists being presented online as the authentic candidates of the party.

According to the statement, the controversial lists did not originate from the party’s national headquarters and should not be regarded as official.
The party explained that it had already submitted the authentic list of candidates who will contest elections under its platform to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the appropriate channels as stipulated by the Electoral Act.

The NDC alleged that the lists in circulation were the handiwork of mischief makers and individuals seeking to undermine the party’s progress and create confusion among its members.
It further disclosed that investigations were ongoing to uncover the sources of the fabricated documents and determine how they found their way into the public domain.

The party described the circulation of the fake lists as a desperate attempt to sow discord and distract it from its objectives, assuring members that the leadership remained focused on strengthening the party and advancing its mission.

Reaffirming its commitment to national development, the NDC said it remained determined to build a strong political platform capable of contributing to the liberation of Nigeria from its current challenges, while calling for the continued support and cooperation of members and stakeholders.
