The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has declared a three-day national fasting and prayer exercise from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24, 2026, in response to the prevailing challenges facing the country.
In a statement signed by its National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, the PFN cited increasing insecurity, violence, killings, insurgency against the Church, and severe economic hardship as reasons for the urgent spiritual intervention. The exercise, themed “The Consuming Fire,” calls on believers across Nigeria to humble themselves and seek divine intervention for peace, protection, and national healing.
According to the PFN, Christians are expected to fast and pray individually or in their local churches on Friday, May 22. On Saturday, May 23, they are to converge at PFN local government headquarters, while on Sunday, May 24, all believers will gather at designated PFN State headquarters or other locations specified by state executives to conclude the programme.
The fellowship emphasized that the prayer points include the need for peace and unity in Nigeria, protection for all citizens, an end to bloodshed and violence, resolution of economic challenges, and the spiritual growth of the Church.
The PFN urged all Nigerians, particularly Christians, to actively participate in the exercise, describing it as a critical moment for united prayer for the nation’s future.
