Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has embarked on a fresh restructuring of key government institutions with the appointment of new heads for strategic agencies, a move aimed at strengthening governance, accelerating public service delivery and consolidating his administration’s reform agenda.
The appointments, announced on Tuesday, affect critical sectors including youth development, primary healthcare, housing and public broadcasting, underscoring the administration’s determination to inject fresh ideas and experienced leadership into agencies considered vital to the state’s socio-economic development.
Among those appointed is Dr. Nelson Omenugha, who will serve as Special Adviser on Youth Reformation, a position expected to play a significant role in the government’s efforts to redirect young people towards productive engagement, entrepreneurship and civic responsibility.
Also appointed is Dr. Chizoba Ezeasor as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, where she is expected to spearhead initiatives aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services across communities in the state.
In the housing sector, Mr. Chike Anyaonu has been named Managing Director of the Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, with the responsibility of driving the state’s housing development agenda and expanding access to affordable housing.
Governor Soludo also retained Mr. Chris Molokwu as Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), reappointing him to continue leading the state-owned media organisation as it pursues reforms designed to enhance public communication and information dissemination.
The appointments were conveyed in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, who said the appointments take immediate effect.
According to the statement, Governor Soludo charged the newly appointed officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by bringing their wealth of experience, competence and professionalism to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The governor further urged the appointees to demonstrate unwavering dedication, accountability and integrity, stressing that his administration remains committed to delivering efficient governance and tangible development across all sectors of the state.
Observers view the appointments as part of the governor’s continuing efforts to reposition government institutions for greater efficiency, strengthen policy implementation and ensure that public agencies deliver measurable results in line with his vision of transforming Anambra into a prosperous, smart and livable homeland.
