The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, dismissed the appeal filed by Aishatu Ahmed, also known as Binani, challenging the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.
Delivering judgement, Justice John Okoro held that the suit was lacking in merit.
Okoro also held that a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) lacks powers to announce election results.
Also, the court affirmed the election of Ahmed Aliyu as Sokoto State governor.
Delivering judgement, Justice Tijani Abubakar dismissed the appeal by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Saidu Umar, agreeing with the reasoning of the election tribunal.
