Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has congratulated three illustrious sons of the state—Assistant Inspectors-General of Police Nnanghe Itam from Yakurr Local Government Area, Obono Bassey Samuel Ewa from Etung Local Government Area, and Akaninyene Ezima Ifebem from Biase Local Government Area—on their elevation from the rank of Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, describing their promotion as a glorious testament to excellence, discipline and unwavering commitment to national service.
In a goodwill message released on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, the Governor said the historic elevation of the three senior police officers has once again placed Cross River State on the national pedestal of honour, proving that diligence, competence and impeccable character remain the enduring currencies of leadership and professional advancement.
Governor Otu noted that the distinguished officers have, through decades of dedicated service, demonstrated uncommon courage, exceptional professionalism and unalloyed patriotism, earning the confidence of the Police High Command and the admiration of Nigerians.
“This well-deserved elevation is far more than a promotion in rank; it is a profound national acknowledgement of your sterling professionalism, unblemished integrity, uncommon courage and steadfast devotion to the security and unity of our great nation. It is a victory not only for each of you and your families but also for the entire people of Cross River State,” the Governor said.
He added, “Your remarkable accomplishments have adorned our state with fresh laurels and reaffirmed the timeless truth that excellence, merit and honour are never without reward. By the nobility of your character, the brilliance of your leadership and the distinction of your service, you have become shining symbols of hope and worthy ambassadors of Cross River State wherever duty has called.”
Governor Otu further observed that the elevation of the three officers would inspire a new generation of young Cross Riverians to embrace discipline, patriotism and selfless service, stressing that their careers have become enduring examples of what determination, resilience and hard work can achieve.
“As you assume these higher responsibilities, I urge you to remain steadfast in the noble ideals that have brought you this far. Continue to uphold justice without fear or favour, defend the rule of law with courage, and strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through exemplary leadership and unyielding commitment to service,” he said.
The Governor prayed that the new Assistant Inspectors-General would be granted divine wisdom, sound judgment, strength and good health as they undertake the enormous responsibilities of their new offices, expressing confidence that they would distinguish themselves even further in the service of the nation.
