Amnesty International on Tuesday called for investigations into the various cases of air strikes that had killed innocent Nigerians.

Amnesty International’s reaction on Tuesday followed Sunday bombing in which an estimated 100 villagers in Tundun Biri village in Kaduna state were reportedly killed.

Listing serious cases of miscalculated air strikes in the past, Amnesty International said on Sunday December 18, 2022, Nigerian Air Force jet fighter killed 64 people in Mutumji village in Zamfara state. It reminded Nigerians also of the killing on Tuesday January 24, this year of 40 people in Doma Village of Nasarawa state.

Condemning the Sunday December 3, 2023, killing in Kaduna, the organisation said on Tuesday that “The Nigerian authorities must investigate these air strikes and where these investigations indicate criminal responsibility, prosecute those responsible and bring them to justice through fair trial.”

The Nigerian Army admitted on Monday that its operatives mistakenly bombed the village during a mission to attack some terrorists in the area.
